Merry Christmas from our Family to Yours
To provide help to the area citizens in the community that is in need. Who may be struggling in everyday life with Housing, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Personal Financial Stability and Work Stability!
We provide programs and steps to assist individuals in becoming successful citizens of the community, depending on their individual needs.
We provide assistance with housing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, job readiness and finance education for financial independence and stability. Depending on each individuals needs.
We believe that everyone deserves a second chance to reach their full potential in life, and in turn to pay it forward, by giving back to the community physically and economically. We believe in hope and a second chance to pursue a renewed life.
And SWLA Homes of Hope wants to be that chance!

"If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime."
Chinese Proverb
SWLA Homes of Hope believes there is much truth in that old Chinese proverb. It is better to teach someone how to do something than to do it for them. Giving someone a fish is good for the short term, but it is better to teach them how to do it, so that in the long term they can take care of themselves.
That is what we do at SWLA Homes of Hope!
"Things may happen around you and things may happen to you but the really most important things are the things that happen within you."
We are very excited about all the new things happening at homes of hope. Slowly more businesses and people are seeing what we are trying to do, And have been offering a helping hand. The more we all spread the word, the more we can help. People are starting to donate more, stand behind us more, and also we have had people coming up to us asking for help. These are the same people who were scared or embarrassed before to ask for help. We want people to realize that we turn no one away and we turn no donation away.
One thing to someone who has nothing is worth its weight in gold. We want people to realize that it does not matter how small or large of a donation, it all helps. Even donating your time to help someone in need is a lot to them, because they may not be physically able to do for themselves.
It only takes one person to help a thousand, but think of what we can do with a hundred thousand people paying it forward and lending the helping hand, knowledge, lessons, and heart to someone else.
Thank you always for helping us to show people that there is still hope!
"Most people fail in life NOT because they aimed too high and missed, but because they aimed too low and hit!"
Our latest donations come from a former Marine. She decided that she had clothes that she could part with for someone who may not have any for themselves or their children. Also a gentleman in Sulphur Louisiana decided to donate and entire house full of Furniture, Clothing and other Household Items, to help someone who may be just be starting out, maybe had a House fire and they lost everything.
We are very grateful to all of the area businesses that have Donated to our 1st Annual Growing Holiday Family Gift Basket's. ClickHERE to see the very special local businesses and supporters that have assisted us with our efforts.
Without people like this, with hearts like this, this organization could not succeed in our Mission and Goals. For that we are always grateful and so are the ones that you have helped.
AJ and his best friend moved from West Texas looking for a better life, and things did not go as they planned. In the past, AJ was addicted to drugs and alcohol. He realized he did not want that life. He wanted to get away from that.
He and his best friend moved to Southwest Louisiana to better their lives. Thinking if they could get away from the bad influences where they were living in West Texas, life would be better. But things did not go as they planned. They ended up living on the streets of Southwest Louisiana. "Dumpster Diving" (as they called it) looking for something to eat. Setting up a tent that they had brought with them to stay in and taking showers at the I-10 beach.
Finally a break for AJ. A local business owner stopped to ask if they needed any help. She offered them a part-time job at her restaurant. It was a start for AJ. Then came Layoffs...
Be watching for more on this young man who had many struggles in life, but with the right encouragement, teachings and positive thinking, AJ is turning his life around and is becoming a true success!
(Story Note: We were recently informed that AJ received his second promotion at his job. Congratulations AJ from all of us here at SWLA Homes of Hope!)
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to What lies within us."
